Nov 01, 2012 · The bearings used in the Tremec transmissions will not tolerate the side thrust that is induced by a bell housing that is out of alignment. It will also impact shift feel . Most companies like Keisler require proof of alignment or they will void new trans warranties. Not that hard to do just time consuming.

My Tremec continues to nibble when shifitng from 1-2 especially when I push it. For that price, I am going to have to assume it's a T-5. be careful, because there was a V6 and V8 version T-5. Even the V8 T-5 is fairly weak; the wildest engine GM put it behind was a TPI 305. I believe it put the shifter several inches toward the rear, because the T-5 shifter is on the end of the tail and can't be flipped forward like on a TKO.
